PRESS RELEASE: Salt Cay, Turks & Caicos

Charles Laurence of Woodstock, New York, announces the selection of Porter's Island Thyme's US offices as the booking agent for:
The Charming House Villa on Salt Cay
Reservations are being accepted as of January 1, 2010. The Charming House Villa on Salt Cay offers the experience of authentic Caribbean island life, updated to today’s standards of comfort and vacation relaxation, just like Salt Cay itself. The property is currently undergoing further upgrades which will bring it up to the standards you have come to associate with Porter's Island Thyme Bistro. These upgrades will be completed by January 1, 2010 and Charming House Villa will be available for rent at that time.
Located in its own walled yard in the unspoiled historic quarter of the South District, just across from the Government House newly restored by the National Trust, the Charming House Villa is a traditional Bermudan Cape with a deep, roofed veranda commanding views of the island, the sunset over the azure sea, and Humpback whales on their timeless migration.
South Creek and its beaches, where there is rarely a footprint in the sand, are a few steps away.

The house sleeps six. There are two bedrooms located on the garden floor, each with queen beds, closets, and their own doors onto the patio equipped with Ocean Liner deck chairs and outdoor dining table.

Upstairs, the master suite offers quiet, space and a romantic iron double bed draped in netting. Dormer windows funnel cooling breezes overhead.

The veranda features an antique Indian charpoy bed for the perfect siesta. Planters’ chairs set the scene for cooling drinks as the sun goes down.

This house is a Caribbean love affair, completely renovated by its owner with authentic materials, European Colonial taste, and antique or fine wooden furniture.

Screened and shuttered windows are left open to the cooling Trade Winds, reflecting the wisdom of generations of islanders. The kitchen is modeled on the original, but features zinc counters, five-ring gas stove, ice-maker, water filter, kitchen bar set in the breezeway, and a full set of quality cooking equipment.

The principal bathroom offers an antique copper tub, built for a 19th Century London spa, for the ultimate in relaxation. Both offer showers.

Before renovation, the Charming House Villa was the home of the late Felix Lightbourne, among the most beloved Salt Cay Belongers of his generation, and it remains a place of happy island memories.

This unique vacation home is touched by a special Caribbean charm.
