E.J. Lipton Crab Races on Salt Cay!

The first hermit (a.k.a. soldier) crab races were held last night at Porter's Island Thyme on Salt Cay in the Turks & Caicos and appropriately renamed the E.J. Lipton Races in honor of a long time resident.

Hermit Crabs were collected from all over Salt Cay!
The races started after Lobster Mania which is every Thursday night in lobster season. There were prizes for the "best dressed" crabs and then the races began.

    Or do LOBSTER MANIA!

Sargent Stan officiates at the races.
Three categories of races were held:  pee wee, medium and jumbo.  Our community Police Sargent officiated at the races.
    Let the races begin!

Before and after the races the local Salt Cay Rake and Scrape Band entertained residents and guests alike.

Leave Salt Cay in the sand.

Always lots of smiles at Porter's Island Thyme
