Hurricane Season: Salt Cay, Turks & Caicos

Hurricane season started yesterday, June 1, and runs through the end of November.  We have experienced quite a few storms over our years living on the gulf coast and in the tropics:  Bula, Fredrick, Jean, Francis, Hana, and Ike just to name a few and have found several sites where you can monitor the storm's activity.

NOAA sends out daily forecasts, but you need to sign up for this free service additional information is available at:  nws.noaa@service.govdelivery.com.

One of the best sites that we have found to track hurricanes is:  http://www.stormpulse.com/

We have found that storms rarely impact the Turks and Caicos, unlike other Caribbean destinations, so this is a perfect time to visit Salt Cay in the Turks and Caicos.  There are no crowds and rates are at their lowest.

Special Promotional rates are being offered at Charming House and the Villas of Salt Cay through the fall.

On a lighter side Hoti, the Zen patron saint of bartenders and fortune tellers, has been electrified so he can keep watch over Island Thyme offering his protection during the storm season.

The Grand Opening of our, soon to be named,  "upper deck" is scheduled for mid January and should be a party not soon to be forgotten.
